OSAKA / JR NODA

KOREAN FOOD & A VERY GENEROUS DRINK

700ml beers & cheese dakgalbi.
A night at Chijimi, Osaka.

A ridiculously big medium beer. Cheese dakgalbi I absolutely loved. This Korean-style izakaya by JR Noda Station made a very good impression on me.

A PLACE I LIKED IN NODA

I ordered a medium draft beer. It held 700ml. Medium. We are off to a good start.

This is Chijimi, a Korean-style izakaya beside JR Noda Station in Osaka’s Fukushima ward. An izakaya is a casual place to eat and drink; here, the food is Korean. I went for a meal, took these photos, and came away very happy with the place.

The drinks are huge, and the cheese dakgalbi was damn good. Those are the two things I want to tell you about first.

START WITH THE DRINK

700ml. And that is the medium.

The beer in the opening photo is my medium draft beer, a Premium Malt’s. The photograph does not really get the size across. In front of you, that 700ml mug makes much more of an impression.

THE SIZE AND THE PRICE

Medium draft beer: 700ml / ¥880. There is also a 1-litre large for ¥1,210. Both prices include tax.

Current online prices from the restaurant’s drinks menu, checked on 11 October 2026.

For that much beer, I thought the price was good. A big drink is nice. A big drink at a price I am happy with is even better.

For my second drink, I switched to a Jim Beam highball: bourbon and soda, served in the branded mug below.

THE DISH TO GET EXCITED ABOUT

The cheese dakgalbi was damn good

If the beer got my attention, the cheese dakgalbi gave me a reason to get properly excited about the food.

Cheese dakgalbi. The dish I absolutely loved at Chijimi.

Dakgalbi is a Korean chicken dish; the cheese version adds melted cheese. At Chijimi, it arrived with the cheese spread across the top, browned in places, and scattered with green onion. You can see it in the photo. This was the dish I absolutely loved.

When I think back to this meal, the two things that stand out are that enormous beer and this plate. That is a pretty good combination.

THE REST OF MY ORDER

Yangnyeom chicken. And yes, fries.

I also ordered yangnyeom chicken, Korean-style chicken coated in sauce, and fries. Here are the other dishes that joined the cheese dakgalbi on the table.

There is nothing complicated about this order: a few dishes I wanted to eat, a large beer, then a highball. That is the kind of meal I like introducing here.

WHY THIS PLACE WORKED FOR ME

Good Korean food at a price I liked

I do not often come across a place where I can enjoy a decent selection of Korean food at a price that feels this reasonable. Chijimi hit that spot for me.

The drinks are ridiculously big. The cheese dakgalbi was excellent. I really liked this place. If Korean food and a big drink sound like your kind of evening in Osaka, put Chijimi on your list.

FINDING THE RESTAURANT

Head for JR Noda Station

Chijimi is about a minute’s walk from JR Noda Station on the Osaka Loop Line. Osaka Metro’s Tamagawa Station, exit 3, is also nearby, with the restaurant listing a walk of about three minutes.

Check the railway name when you plan the journey: JR Noda and Hanshin Noda are different stations. For this restaurant, JR Noda is the useful landmark.
